TRUEREVO: The story of Real Yoginis

Yoga is a physical and mental exercise practiced by millions around the world. It is key for a balanced way of life in today's fast paced reality. The theme for the 8th International Yoga Day is ‘'Yoga for Humanity'. A theme that expresses the urgent need in our society to treat others with respect and the very real way Yoga has made it's mark in people’s lives. We at TRUEREVO want to take this chance to highlight people’s real stories and help humanize struggles and do our part in normalizing needing balance and an outlet in your day-to-day life.

Here are some of our featured Real Yoginis getting candid with their journey with Yoga and how it has impacted their lives.

Yogini: RITU SINGH

A yoga therapist, teaching for more than 6 years. I am currently focusing on Holistic Health and I am extremely passionate about healing people through my knowledge of Yoga and therapy.

Which is your favourite yoga pose and why?

I have never encountered an asana I haven’t loved. I love practicing all Yoga postures that can bring me ease.

How has yoga helped you?

Yoga has helped me to turn inwards and strike a balance between all facets of my life. It has made me more balanced, emotionally and spiritually. I am able to use all my energies in the right direction and I am thankful to Yoga for that.

Yogini: KAJAL SOMAIYA

I’m a Yoga instructor, soap maker and full-time mom based out of Mumbai, India.

Which is your favourite yoga pose and why?

I love practicing inversions, core burners and balancing poses. My current favourite is kakasana/crow pose. 

It's a pose that challenges me every time I practice it. Also there are so many variations of the pose one can practice to keep improving and deepening the practice. 

How has yoga helped you?

On a physical level, yoga has helped me get toned and feel better + stronger in my body. 

On an emotional level, it's definitely made me calmer stronger and more in touch with myself.

I can't imagine a day in my life without my yoga practice, it grounds me while giving me wings at the same time. I'm ever changing and ever discovering things about myself and that's the best gift I could ever receive.

How do you feel about using functional TRUEREVO products in your practice?

Yogini: MUDITA UNIYAL

I am an Industrial pharmacist, I also work with British Council as a secondary science teacher for 5 years. My name means ‘Smile’ and it’s my most precious gift given to me by my parents.

Which is your favourite yoga pose and why?

Every pose is different and there are lot in line but strength and balancing postures give me more confidence and stability of mind like Ekpada Koundinyasana, Mayurasana and headstand (Sirsasana).

How has yoga helped you?

Yoga gave me that focus and strength which we need with growing age. Now I am less affected by unpleasant situations.

I feel more stable and calm while taking my decisions in adverse circumstances too. And not to miss beautiful skin and healthy hair.

How do you feel about using functional TRUEREVO products in your practice?

They're super comfortable. 

Yogini: HRUTIKA SHRIRAM

Mother, Wife, National Champion, Shivaji Chattrapati awardee and Yogi.

Which is your favourite yoga pose and why?

I love Sirsasana as it makes me feel powerful and strong upside down.

How has yoga helped you?

Yoga not just helped me overcome vertigo but also made me strong mentally and physically.

How do you feel about using functional TRUEREVO products in your practice?

I am extremely happy with their yoga pants as they come with a zip pocket. They are bright and ultra-light with good compression. I love how the color did not fade even after many washes.

Yoga is a challenging exercise and it takes years to master. However, inculcating daily practice for even an hour a day, can help increase the quality of life as well as help one emotionally cope with stressful life situations. Yoga has been shown to aid in a hoard of different illnesses and has helped with pain management, proving again that while it’s not a cure, Yoga practices can make life healthy and fulfilling if practiced diligently.
